I-mate Mobile Phones
Smartphones, PDA's and pocket PC's have been the new technology in use for many people around the world. They offer extreme usability and freedom with regard to many many applications which come pre installed or can be downloaded. They use latest technology with regard to their design, form factor, display type and features. Features could be about the better imaging ability, sound quality, operating system, user interface, storage space, network connectivity, messaging clients, third party softwares etc. Generally such gadgets have a better Internet connectivity support and can easily be compared to computers of previous years with their large storage space and support. They can also beat many computers of today in that respect.
I-mate Mobile Phones is known for its Windows mobile powered devices. The group is famous for their smartphones and PDA gadgets which allow the user to be organised and use plenty of applications for gaming, Internet access, imaging etc. to suit his/her need. The company started its operations in 2001 based in Dubai, UAE and thereafter operating in UK, Italy, Armenia, Australia, India, USA and South Africa. As of March 2006, the company had sold over 4,20,000 Windows Mobile powered gadgets.
Since its inception, the company had tie up with Taiwanese mobile phone giant, HTC , for selling their handsets across their territories. These mobile phones were all pocket PC's, PPC phones and smartphones. The companies however broke tie up in 2006 after which i-mate began carrying handsets from other manufacturers including Inventec and TechFaith. One recently released handset which has carried on the company's limited range is i-mate 810-F.
i-mate 810-F has a quadband support for its 2G GSM network services with supported bands being GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G network support as well with supported bands being HSDPA 850/1900/2100. The quad band support in terms of 2G GSM services allows the user to take this phone wherever he/she wants without worrying about losing connectivity or connection. The phone can even be purchased from one part of the world and taken to another part without having connectivity issues. The 3G connection ensures fast speed Internet access and web surfing along with usage of Internet using applications. Video calling is also made possible by using the fast speeds of the 3G connection. Physical dimensions of this phone is of 111 mm X 66 mm X 15.5 mm and body weight is of 150 grams. A 2.5 inch TFT resistive touchscreen governs the phones display. Resolution of this display is of 320 X 240 pixels and sixty five thousand colours can be displayed.
The quality of this display is further improved by using an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate and underneath the keyboard is the QWERTY keyboard fir quick typing of text in the form of messages or E-mails. Internal memory for storing of data and files is of 2GB by using a NAND RAM while the phone operates on a 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM. Internet can be surfed on its WAP/XML , HTML browser (Internet Explorer Mobile 6) using data connections of GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB. Images can be captured and videos be recorded by using its two megapixel camera. The secondary camera can be used for video calling. Other features include; pocket office, music player, video player and a file manager for quick access to files and folders.
