Do I have to worry about copper toxicity in a copper kettle lined with tin on the inside?
Do I have to worry about copper toxicity in a copper kettle lined with tin on the inside if the tin plating on the inside wears down? I hear copper is pretty toxic in all forms. Any idea if the copper on the inside will turn into copper oxide and fall off into the water? Or are all copper kettles alloyed to prevent that sort of thing?
I f you had to worry about copper toxicity then no home in the US or world for that matter would have copper pipes for water supply plumbing....If anything you would have to worry about the tin or zinc depending how is applied. I wouldn't worry to much if it was made recently, because there are new application processes for applying coatings to kettles that are 100% safe. Now if this is an antique then I may want think about it since i forget who, like Admiral Byrd or whoever that died in the arctic from their Tin cans tainting all the food that was in them...

The entire cookware industry is estimated to earn billions of dollars. These days, cookware items are becoming increasingly more and more sophisticated. A lot of this sophistication has to do with newer materials being used to produce cookware. You have cookware in aluminum, stainless steel, copper, tin, and specialized Teflon. Such is the amazing range of cookware that choosing the one right for you is indeed a daunting task.
The first thing that one considers while in the market for cookware is perhaps the price. The price again depends on the specific requirements that he/she has. A pan, for example, may cost you lesser than a pressure cooker. A tea kettle would for instance cost you less than pan, and so on and so forth. The price also depends to a large extent on the material the cookware is made up of. Copper cookware is perhaps the costliest of them all. If you are not in a mood to spend a bomb on your cookware, may be you should look at cookware made up of stainless steel, aluminum, or any other material which is cheaper than copper.
One can find literally hundreds of online merchants plugging different sorts of cookware. Whether you are looking for copper cookware, professional cookware, or waterless cookware, you can find them all on the Internet. What is more, most of these online resources announce fabulous bargains from time to time. All you need to do is to do a little bit of search of these web sites. Online resources also help you in guiding through the technical aspects of cookware, in addition to selling them. The best thing about online shopping is that you need not move out of the confines of your home. You just have to click a button to shop for the choicest discount cookware and it will be shipped to you in a matter of days.
