Flamingo Palm
Any retro ideas for food for a Tropical Christmas party?

Hi, I am having a tropical themed christmas party and would love some ideas for food.....think tacky, there will be inflatable flamingo's and palm tree cocktail stirrers - thanks
PS please remember its winter in the UK so fresh tropical fruit is probably out (unless its in the cocktails)

For more decor ideas: Cut out a snowman shape from cardboard. Cover the snowman with a thin layer of glue and sprinkle it with sand. Allow the glue to dry fully. Add the other snowman's features before hanging the tropical snowman on the wall.

Make a shell garland...Sea shells work well on a homemade garland for the tree or party area. Hot glue shells to a wide ribbon. You can choose ribbon in the traditional red and green Christmas scheme or choose a more tropical color palette. Use the shell garland to dress up your palm trees or to drape along the tables.

Hang beach balls on a Christmas tree...spray with glue and add sparkle to them

Cut out palm tree shapes from cardboard...hang lights on them.
Spray glitter on coconuts and add them to the table decor

For food: Hawaiian pizzas with pineapple and ham
Do some dishes using bananas....see if something on this Chiquita site that you can do>>http://www.chiquitabananas.com/

Serve some Hostess snowball cakes on a platter

Here's a site for retro Christmas food recipes>>http://www.retrofoodrecipes.com/christmas_recipes.html

do something with stuffed mushroom caps
and fondue!.....dip meats, breads into cheese mixture

Make little penquins from black olives, pieces of carrot and stuffed with cream cheese http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Perky-Olive-Penguins

(Also on that tasteofhome.com site they have Penguin made out of an eggplant that sits on a veggie platter....and they also have whole eggs made to look like penguins....just look for them in their search part).
