I need cookie cutters in the shape of human bones, is there such a thing?
I am giving a graduation party for a x-ray tech. and want to make cookies in the shape of human bones. I have found hands and feet cookie cutters, but nothing with bones. All I get is dog bone. Please help!!
The best thing for you to do is to cut the cookies by hand. Personally I think the dog bone shape is cute and quirky (they kinda look like metacarpals and metatarsals?)... all your x-ray techs know the difference between a femur and a humerus already. If you do wind up hand-cutting them though, be careful not to have too many little parts sticking out. A small condyle will bake faster than a trochanter, so you'd have part of one cookie burnt and the other part still undercooked. That's why the dog-bone shape is better, because it is fairly symmetrical without too many little pieces.
I think it'd be easier to make a cake in the shape of a bone, you have a lot more space to work with, and it really doesn't require too much baking skill.
